press release 2005-12-31 Broke band gives birth to record company by us Bronx-based outfit Manyc Records releases Milt Opus sophomore record ALL IS NORMAL 2005-12-31, Saturday - USA: Bronx, New York In 2000, the members of Milt Opus begin recording their follow up record to UP TO BASEMENT. Little do they know that the band will soon part ways and that these five songs would later become Manyc Records' first release. ALL IS NORMAL shows an immense amount of maturity in the arrangements, especially when you take into account that keyboardist Thomas Patriota was only sixteen when the recordings were made. The album opens with the contemplative "Pearl Beach," with lead singer and guitarist Miguel Patriota's voice recalling David Byrne. You will be singing along to the second chorus of "A little further," and by the end of the record's title track "All is normal," you feel complete. The members of Milt Opus meet in 1997 during high school at the Lycee Francais de New York. Milt Opus is lead singer and guitar player Miguel Patriota, his brother Thomas Patriota on keyboards, Clement Valla on guitar, Igor Hansen-Love on bass, Oliver Shearer and James Alexander on percussion, and his brother Philip Shearer on drums. Everybody writes. Soon after these recordings are made, the band breaks up and no release is made. No one has any idea when or how the tracks will make it to the public. But five years later, these five songs have finally been released by Manyc Records. Manyc operates out of the South Bronx, in the Bronx, NY, USA. Manyc Records is a record company founded to make music that people will want to buy, that will mater, and that will last, and that is what Milt Opus' ALL IS NORMAL will do. Thank you.
